Summary:
The Rongai Route is the only trail that approaches Kilimanjaro from the northern side near the Kenyan border, thus offering a unique perspective of the mountain. This route takes 6 to 7 days, allowing hikers time to adjust to the altitude with a gentle climb. Beginning near the village of Rongai, the trail goes through peaceful areas, passing pine forests, open moorlands, and rocky desert landscapes. It meets up with the Marangu Route at Kibo Hut for the final stretch to the summit. This route is great for those seeking fewer crowds and beautiful, varied scenery.
