Ngorongoro was once part of the Serengeti National Park, but in 1959, the two National Parks were split into two designated Protected Areas. Ngorongoro is believed to be an onomatopoeic word termed by the Maasai people of the region to describe the “ngor ngor” sound of the bell that hangs around the neck of the lead cow in a herd, making the local pastoralists name the area Ngorongoro.

6:00 PM: Check in at your lodge or camp inside Serengeti National Park.
7:00 PM: Enjoy dinner at the lodge/camp and relax under the starlit sky.

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Depart Serengeti National Park and begin your journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Tanzanian countryside, passing by rural villages and picturesque landscapes along the way.
4:00 PM: Arrive at your accommodation near or inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
6:00 PM: Check in at your lodge or camp and unwind after a day of safari adventures.
6:00 AM: Have breakfast at your lodge/camp.
7:00 AM: Depart for the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich wildlife and stunning scenery.
8:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. Explore the diverse habitats of the crater floor and search for the “Big Five” and other wildlife species. Marvel at the breathtaking views and abundant wildlife that call the crater home.
1:00 PM: Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot within the crater, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness.
2:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Continue your game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, focusing on areas where you haven’t explored yet. Visit the Lerai Forest to search for leopards and explore the shores of Lake Magadi, where you might spot flamingos and other water birds.
5:00 PM: Ascend out of the crater and begin your journey back to Arusha.
9:00 PM: Arrive back at your accommodation in Arusha, end of tour.
