In detail:
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport
Welcome to Tanzania! We will pick you from the airport and transfer you to your accommodation. In the afternoon, if you would like to stretch your legs and recover from the flight, we will arrange a short tour of Arusha town, including a visit to the local food and Maasai Market for some artisanal crafts. You will receive your safari briefing and have an early dinner in preparation for the early start the next day.
Day 2: Arusha National Park
We kick off the tour with Arusha National Park located just outside Arusha. It offers diverse landscapes ranging from lush rainforests to the serene Momella Lakes and towering Mount Meru. Here you will find giraffes, zebras, and rare black-and-white colobus monkeys or albino baboons. We also offer a walking safari with a park ranger, giving you the chance to be closer to the animals!
Day 3: Tarangire National Park
Early morning drive to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees, which can live for centuries. Tarangire is roughly the size of Luxembourg. During the dry season, these trees provide water to elephants, who use a unique technique to extract it. Besides the many elephants, you can also spot Maasai giraffes, gazelles and antelopes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, baboons, and various bird species.
Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park
Early morning drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Nestled at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment, this compact park is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, abundant wildlife, and diverse habitats. Highlights include tree-climbing lions, flamingo-filled shores (June – October), and populations of elephants, hippos, and baboons. Ideal for birdwatchers and nature lovers.
Day 5 to 7: Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park is renowned for the Great Migration and its impressive predator population, including over lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. The park is also home to many other stunning animals, which your guide will eagerly help you spot. Visit from June to October for prime game viewing during the dry season or witness the dramatic river crossings of the Migration from July to September.
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater & Conservation Area
The landscape here, consisting of grasslands and acacia forests, offers a nice contrast to the vast plains of the Serengeti and the steep crater walls. The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is particularly impressive due to its rich wildlife. With a bit of luck, you might see the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard—within just a few hours.
Day 9: At leisure.
We will head to a Maasai village for a cultural experience. Enjoy your last moments in Tanzania.
Day 10: Return to Kilimanjaro Airport
After breakfast or depending on your flight schedule, you can enjoy some extra time at the lodge before our driver transfers you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home or onwards to Zanzibar.
