Day 1: Tarangire National Park
In the early morning, you will head towards Tarangire National Park with picnic lunch. The park is especially known for its large elephant herds, estimated to have a population of about 2,500. Covering an area of 2,600 km², Tarangire National Park is roughly the size of Luxembourg. The landscape is characterized by large baobabs, bush savannah, and swamp areas. Besides the many elephants, you can also spot Maasai giraffes, gazelles and antelopes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, baboons, and various bird species.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
Begin the day with a drive to the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will descend into this natural wonder and experience a dense concentration of wildlife, including the elusive black rhino, majestic lions, and grazing herds of wildebeest and buffalo. The crater floor and its diverse ecosystems promise incredible game-viewing opportunities. You will have a picnic lunch at the scenic hippo happy pool!
Day 3: Lake Natron
Today, we will head early to the stunning Lake Natron, a remote destination known for its vibrant red waters and flocks of flamingos. Discover the Engaresero Footprint Site near Lake Natron, featuring over 400 fossilized footprints dating back 5000 to 19000 years. Continue the adventure with a hike to a nearby waterfall, where you can cool off in the refreshing natural pools.
Day 4: Lake Natron – Arusha via Monduli Mountains
On our final day, we’ll take a scenic route back to Arusha through the Monduli Mountains. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of rolling hills, traditional Maasai villages, and expansive savannahs.
